Toward a Real Time View-invariant 3D Action Recognition

چکیده
In this paper we propose a novel human action recognition method, robust to viewpoint variation, which combines skeletonand depth-based action recognition approaches. For this matter, we first build several base classifiers, to independently predict the action performed by a subject. Then, two efficient combination strategies, that take into account skeleton accuracy and human body orientation, are proposed. The first is based on fuzzy switcher where the second uses a combination between fuzzy switcher and aggregation. Moreover, we introduce a new algorithm for the estimation of human body orientation. To perform the test we have created a new Multiview 3D Action public dataset with three viewpoint angles (30°,0°,-30°). The experimental results show that an efficient combination strategy of base classifiers improves the accuracy and the computational efficiency for human action recognition.

CS231A Project Proposal: Real-Time Airbending
We propose to design a framework for real-time interactive physics-based simulation using state of the art motion sensing devices such as the Microsoft Kinect. The user would be able to interact with the system using simple gestures, where each gesture would have a predefined action associated with it. Unlike previous work on gesture recognition, we would like our recognition to be ‘action awar...
متن کاملMulti-view action recognition based on action volumes, fuzzy distances and cluster discriminant analysis
In this paper, we present a view-independent action recognition method exploiting a low computational-cost volumetric action representation. Binary images depicting the human body during action execution are accumulated in order to produce the so-called action volumes. A novel time-invariant action representation is obtained by exploiting the circular shift invariance property of the magnitudes...
متن کاملFast, invariant representation for human action in the visual system
The ability to recognize the actions of others from visual input is essential to humans’ daily lives. The neural computations underlying action recognition, however, are still poorly understood. We use magnetoencephalography (MEG) decoding and a computational model to study action recognition from a novel dataset of well-controlled, naturalistic videos of five actions (run, walk, jump, eat, dri...
متن کاملModel Based Recognition of 3D Objects From Single 2D Images
ÐIn this work, we treat major problems of object recognition which have received relatively little attention lately. Among them are the loss of depth information in the projection from a 3D object to a single 2D image, and the complexity of finding feature correspondences between images. We use geometric invariants to reduce the complexity of these problems. There are no geometric invariants of...
متن کاملCharacterizing the Stability of 3D Invariants Derived from 3D Translational Symmetry
Translational symmetry provides a powerful constraint that enables recognition of three-dimensional (3D) objects from a single view. Under ideal conditions, affine invariants of 3D points reconstructed from corresponding points would serve as accurate indices for object recognition. In real images, however, inaccurate 2D coordinates of corresponding points can lead to erroneous invariants. In t...
